Career and profession

A colleague hands you Arjun's chart with a note attached: 'This man's career took off at 36 — a real jump in authority and standing. Show me, from the chart alone, why then and not sooner.' This is the detective's version of astrology: the event is known, the period is hidden, and your job is to reverse-engineer the timing.

You start where career always starts — the 10th house — but Arjun's rewards two witnesses, not one. From his Libra lagna the 10th is Cancer, ruled by a Moon buried in the 8th; from his Taurus Moon the 10th points to Saturn, his yogakaraka, sitting in its own sign in the 4th and throwing its gaze across the whole 10th house, which glows at 37 sarvashtakavarga bindus — the richest room on his map. A weak-looking first witness, a powerhouse second: the tenth read twice.

So we run the career protocol on Arjun, then walk the dasha to age 36 and watch the rise fall out of it — and you infer the FIELD of work on two more charts, because 'he'll have a career' is not a reading; 'he works with other people's resources, out of the limelight' is.

Five steps for career

Run every career read in order. 1 — the 10th HOUSE, read from the lagna AND from the Moon (n27): two witnesses on work and standing. 2 — the D10 Dashamsha, the career varga (n50). 3 — the KARAKAS by flavour: Sun for authority and government, Saturn for labour and service, Mercury for trade and commerce. 4 — the 10th LORDS' condition and dignity. 5 — the DASHA that activates the 10th, its lords, and any yogakaraka, to time the rise.

Read the tenth twice

Career is judged from the 10th of the lagna AND the 10th from the Moon — the two most important angles for public life. When both point the same way, the vocation is clear and strong; when they diverge, one describes the outer job and the other the felt working life. Never rest a career read on a single tenth.

The karaka names the field

The 10th has no single karaka — you choose one by flavour, and it colours the KIND of work. Sun: authority, government, leadership, the professions. Saturn: labour, service, systems, the long grind and the mass. Mercury: trade, writing, commerce, communication. Read which karaka is strongest and best-placed, and let it name the field, not just confirm 'a career'.

Arjun's tenth, read twice

From his Libra lagna, the 10th is Cancer, lord Moon — but that Moon sits in the 8th, giving career a flavour of OTHER people's resources, research, the hidden and the deep. From his Taurus Moon, the 10th is Aquarius, lord Saturn — his yogakaraka, in its own sign in the 4th, casting its full 7th aspect across the 10th. The 10th house scores 37 SAV bindus, his strongest. Verdict: a genuinely career-rich chart, its work turned toward the concealed and the resourced.

Reverse-engineering the rise at 36

The event is a jump in standing at 36; find the period. Arjun runs his Jupiter mahadasha from 33.6 to 49.6, and INSIDE it the Saturn antardasha spans 35.7 to 38.2 — so age 36 sits squarely in Jupiter–Saturn. Saturn is his yogakaraka, the very planet aspecting his rich 10th. The rise is the yogakaraka's antardasha activating the career house. The chart didn't just allow the jump; it dated it.

Read career from the 10th of both lagna and Moon, the D10, and the karaka whose flavour names the field, then time the rise to the dasha that activates the 10th and its yogakaraka. 'He has a career' is not a reading; name the terrain and date the turning point.
