'Thirty-six to thirty-nine,' you tell Priya, and she nods — then asks the question every client asks next: 'Which YEAR? Which month?' Fine timing is the last tightening of the lens — running the same significators down to the pratyantardasha, and then handing the final trigger to the sky's live motion, the transits.
The governing idea is a division of labour that the next module makes its whole subject: the dasha gives PERMISSION, the transit gives TIMING. A period whose lords carry a promise opens the door; a slow planet crossing the right point in the live sky walks through it. Neither fires the event alone — the window and the trigger must coincide.
This lesson closes the dasha module by narrowing Priya's own marriage window to a single season, showing where transits take over, and — honestly — where precision runs into the hard limit of how accurately the birth time was recorded.
By the end: Narrow a predicted event from its year-scale window to the month by running the significator down the pratyantardasha ladder — computing beat lengths with the same ×years÷120 formula — then identify the slow transit over the natal significator or house that pulls the trigger, reading dasha as permission and transit as timing, within the honest limits of the recorded birth time.
From year to month
Each level tightens the lens
Mahadasha sets the decade and theme; antardasha the year-scale events; pratyantardasha the month; and finer sub-levels (sookshma, prana) the days — software territory. Run the significator down the ladder: a carrying lord at each level narrows the window one notch, from chapter to scene to beat.
A significator's pratyantar inside its antardasha inside its mahadasha points at a specific month.
Worked case
Priya's window, narrowed to a season
Take n77's strongest window: Venus–Venus, ages 36.1–39.4 — a scene 3 years 4 months long. Now hunt the 7th lord at the beat level. Saturn's beat = 3.33 × 19 ÷ 120 ≈ 0.53 years, about six months; walking the beats in wheel order from Venus places it near ages 38.2–38.8. The ladder alone has narrowed a twenty-year chapter to roughly one season.
Same formula as n71, one level down: the parent's REAL length times the beat lord's years, over 120.
Dasha opens; transit fires
The dasha period grants PERMISSION for an event its lords significate; the live transit (gochara) supplies the TIMING, activating the same significator or house in real time. An event lands when both coincide — the window open AND a transit crossing the right point. Next module makes transits its whole study.
A marriage window fires as a slow planet transits the natal 7th or Venus.
Saturn and Jupiter pull the big triggers
The slow planets are the major transit triggers — Saturn and Jupiter crossing a natal significator or its house tend to mark the big events, because their weight matches life's turning points. The Moon's fast transit times the day within a hot month. Slow hands for the event, the fast hand for the date.
Jupiter transiting the natal 5th in a children-promising period is a classic birth trigger.
The same point, lit twice
The tightest timing is DOUBLE activation: a dasha significator holding the calendar while a transit hits the very same natal point. When the period lord and the transiting planet both touch the promised house, the event's month is lit from two independent directions — the most reliable narrowing the tradition offers.
For Priya's season near 38: a slow transit through Capricorn — her natal 7th — or over natal Venus would be the trigger to watch.
Down the ladder, then to the sky
The practical sequence: confirm the promise and the year-window (n77), run the significator down to the pratyantardasha for the month, then scan that month's slow transits for one crossing the natal significator or house. Where the beat and the transit agree is your narrowed answer.
Ladder gives the season; the transit within it gives the fortnight.
Precision meets the birth certificate
Fine timing is capped by birth-time accuracy (n4). The pratyantardasha shifts on a scale of weeks; the finer sub-levels on days — beyond what an unrectified birth time can honestly support. Push to the month with confidence, to the day only on a rectified time, and say which you are doing.
Day-precision claims on a 'sometime in the morning' birth time are false precision.
The one idea to keep
Window from the dasha, trigger from the sky
Narrow with the ladder to the month, then let a slow transit over the same natal point pull the trigger — double activation is the tightest honest timing. And never claim finer than the birth time allows.
Lab
Reproduce the worked narrowing. Expand Priya's Venus mahadasha, open the Venus–Venus antardasha, and read its pratyantar list — find Saturn's beat and check it against the card's arithmetic (3.33 × 19 ÷ 120 ≈ 0.53 years, landing near 38.2–38.8). The ladder is the same formula three levels deep.
Priya was born in Pushya nakshatra — lord Saturn — so life opens in a Saturn mahadasha with 12y 1m of its 19y still to run.
0
At age 0, Priya runs Saturn mahadasha, Venus antardasha (ages 0.0–3.0).
Clear of the mahadasha junctions — no sandhi window covers this age.
Tap a mahadasha to open its antardashas, then an antardasha for its pratyantardashas — each level is the parent’s length × the sub-lord’s years ÷ 120. Shaded antardashas sit inside a dasha-sandhi window. Switch charts in the panel to see a different life’s clock.
○Expand Priya's Venus mahadasha row — the chapter holding the marriage window — so its nine scenes are visible.
○Move the age dial inside the Venus–Venus scene (36.1–39.4) — the window the worked card narrows to Saturn's beat. Then open the scene's pratyantar list and locate that beat by eye.
Practice
Arjun's rise window is Jupiter–Saturn, ages 35.7–38.2 — an antardasha 2.5 years long. Compute the length of the Jupiter–Saturn–Saturn pratyantardasha that opens it.
Work it out
Same formula, one level down: the parent scene's REAL length × the beat lord's years ÷ 120. Which lord takes a scene's first beat?
A dasha window for a promised event has been open for months, but the event has not fired. What supplies the actual trigger within the window?
Work it out
Two instruments share the work. The dasha holds one half — which half is missing?
Priya's narrowed season is roughly ages 38.2–38.8 — the Venus–Venus–Saturn beat. What live-sky configuration would mark a month inside it as the strongest candidate?
Work it out
Double activation: the same natal point lit from the calendar AND from the sky. Which points, and which transiting hands?
Priya's birth time is recorded to the minute; another client's only as 'early morning'. You have month-scale windows for both. What may you honestly offer each?
Work it out
Which level of the ladder survives a vague birth time, and which does not?
