Siblings, parents, and family

A client asks three questions in one breath: 'How's my relationship with my brother? Is my mother's health alright? What kind of career did my father have?' A beginner has three houses for the three relatives and then freezes on 'the mother's HEALTH' and 'the father's CAREER' — those aren't in the beginner's table. But they are computable, exactly, from a single trick you already own.

The trick is bhavat bhavam's grown-up sibling: derived houses (n37). Make any relative's house a fresh lagna, and count their topic from there. The mother lives in your 4th, so her health — her 6th — is the 6th counted from your 4th, which lands on your 9th. Your father lives in your 9th, so his career — his 10th — is the 10th from your 9th, which lands on your 6th. Every relative carries their whole life inside your chart, rotated into place.

So we build a full family map of Meera's chart — her sibling, her mother, her father, each through their own three lenses — and you learn to rotate the wheel by hand until a nephew's wealth or a mother's longevity falls out in seconds.

By the end: Read siblings, parents, and family by combining the direct houses and karakas (3rd/Mars, 4th/Moon, 9th/Sun) with the derived-house machinery (n37) — treating each relative's house as a fresh lagna to compute matters like the mother's health (9th) and the father's career (6th) — and reading each relative through their own three lenses.

The family map

The protocol

Direct houses, then rotate

Two moves read any relative. FIRST, the direct house and karaka: siblings — 3rd house and Mars; mother — 4th and the Moon; father — 9th and the Sun. SECOND, for a relative's OWN topics, rotate: treat their house as a fresh lagna and count the topic from there (n37), then translate back to your house numbers. Read the relative through their three lenses — their house, its lord, their karaka.

Siblings 3rd/Mars, mother 4th/Moon, father 9th/Sun — then rotate for their sub-topics.

The rotation, worked twice

MOTHER'S HEALTH: the mother is your 4th; health is a 6th-house matter; so count the 6th FROM the 4th — that is your 9th house (4 + 6 − 1 = 9). FATHER'S CAREER: the father is your 9th; career is a 10th-house matter; so count the 10th FROM the 9th — that is your 6th house (9 + 10 − 1 = 18 → 6). Learn the two, and the method for any relative's any topic follows.

Mother's health = 6th-from-4th = the 9th. Father's career = 10th-from-9th = the 6th.

Worked · Meera

The sibling — a protective bond

Meera's 3rd house (Cancer) holds Jupiter, EXALTED — a benefic at its best in the house of siblings, suggesting a wise, protective, elevating sibling bond. Her 3rd lord is the Moon (in Scorpio, the 7th), and the sibling-karaka Mars sits in Gemini, the 2nd. The strongest single note is that exalted Jupiter in the 3rd: a sibling relationship read as a genuine blessing.

Exalted Jupiter in the 3rd: the sibling house holding a benefic at its peak — a protective, elevating bond.

Worked · Meera

The mother, and her health at the 9th

Meera's 4th (Leo) holds Rahu — an unconventional, unsettled home base — and the mother-karaka Moon is debilitated in the 7th, a tender note. For the mother's HEALTH, rotate to the 9th (6th-from-4th): Capricorn, holding Venus, with 9th lord Saturn — Meera's yogakaraka — in the 5th. So the home reads as unconventional, but the mother's-health house is comparatively well-supported. Two different questions, two different rooms.

4th = Leo with Rahu (unconventional home); mother's health = the 9th (Capricorn with Venus).

Worked · Meera

The father, through his three lenses, and his career at the 6th

Read the father as a person: his house is the 9th (Capricorn, holding Venus); its lord is Saturn, Meera's yogakaraka, in the 5th; his karaka is the Sun, in the 10th with Ketu — a detached, impersonal public figure. For his CAREER, rotate to the 6th (10th-from-9th): Libra, empty, its lord Venus back in the 9th. The father's own three lenses, plus his career rotated into Meera's 6th.

Father: 9th house + 9th lord Saturn + karaka Sun; his career = the 6th (10th-from-9th).

The one idea to keep

Every relative, their whole life, rotated in

Read family by the direct house and karaka first (3rd/Mars, 4th/Moon, 9th/Sun), then rotate: any relative's house is a fresh lagna, and their topics count from there (mother's health = the 9th, father's career = the 6th). Each relative gets their own three lenses. The whole family lives inside one chart, wheel within wheel.

Lab

the tab is preset to Siblings (house 3, karaka Mars, varga D3). Put the chart on Meera and read the line: what sits in her 3rd (exalted Jupiter), where her 3rd lord Moon stands, and where Mars falls. The lab also carries Father (9th/Sun) and Mother (4th/Moon) tabs — switch to them to read her parents through the same threefold view.

House3rd (Virgo)Mercury, Venus

LordMercury in the 3rd Malefic

KarakaMars in the 7th

VargaD3 Drekkana

Read Priya’s siblings the threefold way: the house(s) and who sits there, the house lord’s placement and functional nature, and the karaka’s placement — then confirm the whole in the D3 Drekkana. Switch charts and domains to build the reflex.

  1. Set the lab to Meera's chart with the Siblings domain selected, and read out her 3rd-house line — the exalted-Jupiter, protective-sibling picture this lesson works.

Practice

A client asks about their MOTHER'S HEALTH. Which house of the client's own chart carries it, and how is it derived?

Work it out

The mother is the 4th; health is a 6th-house matter. Count the 6th FROM the 4th, inclusively.

Compute the house that carries the client's FATHER'S CAREER.

Work it out

The father is the 9th; career is a 10th-house matter. Count the 10th FROM the 9th, inclusively (and reduce past 12).

On Meera's chart, her 3rd house (Cancer) holds exalted Jupiter. What does this most support for her siblings?

Work it out

A natural benefic at its peak dignity, standing in the house of siblings — what tone does that set?

To read Meera's FATHER as a person (not just 'the 9th house'), which three lenses do you use?

Work it out

The same threefold method, applied to the relative: their house, its lord, and their karaka.
