The facts sheet says Arjun's Saturn transit is favorable — his Taurus Moon puts Saturn in the 11th, a 3-6-11 gains house. A beginner stops there and promises him a productive year. But look across his chart: two planets, Jupiter and Ketu, sit in his 5th from the Moon. That 5th is the exact house that pierces a favorable Saturn-11th. The clean verdict has a hidden arrow through it, and the promised gains largely fail to land.
That silent cancellation is vedha, 'piercing'. Each favorable transit house has a paired vedha house; a planet standing in that paired house looses an arrow across the chart and blocks the good result before it arrives. It is why two people with the identical favorable transit can have opposite years — one's vedha house is empty, the other's is occupied.
This lesson makes the check mechanical: the actual vedha rows for Saturn, Jupiter, the Sun, and the Moon, the two father-son exceptions that never pierce, and the two-step order — verdict, then vedha — that keeps a reading honest.
By the end: Run the two-step vedha check on any transit — first call it favorable or not (n80), then look up the paired obstruction house and see whether a natal occupant sits there to pierce a favorable result or relieve an unfavorable one — reciting the Saturn, Jupiter, Sun and Moon vedha rows and honoring the Sun-Saturn and Moon-Mercury exceptions.
The pierced result
An arrow from a paired house
Vedha means piercing. Each FAVORABLE transit house has a paired vedha house (counted from the Moon). When a natal or transiting planet occupies that paired house, it pierces the favorable transit — the good result is cancelled though the transit itself looked perfect. Vedha only ever concerns a favorable house; an already-unfavorable transit has no result to pierce.
Saturn favorably in the 11th from the Moon is pierced by a planet in the 5th — its vedha house.
Blocks the good, relieves the bad
Vedha is symmetrical. A planet in the vedha point of a FAVORABLE transit cancels the benefit; the same mechanism over an UNFAVORABLE transit relieves the difficulty. So an obstruction is not always bad news — over a hard transit, it is the escape valve. Check both directions before you pronounce.
A hard malefic transit can be softened by a planet sitting in its vedha house.
Vedha row
Saturn: 3 to 12, 6 to 9, 11 to 5
Saturn's three favorable houses each pierce from a fixed partner: its 3rd is pierced from the 12th, its 6th from the 9th, its 11th from the 5th. Mars and the nodes share this exact row (3:12, 6:9, 11:5). Memorize it as a paired list — favorable house, then the house that blocks it.
Arjun's Saturn-11th meets natal planets in his 5th, its vedha house — pierced.
Vedha row
Jupiter: 2 to 12, 5 to 4, 7 to 3, 9 to 10, 11 to 8
Jupiter's five favorable houses each have their arrow: the 2nd is pierced from the 12th, the 5th from the 4th, the 7th from the 3rd, the 9th from the 10th, and the 11th from the 8th. A fortunate Jupiter transit is only as good as its vedha house is empty.
Jupiter favorably in the 9th is pierced by a planet in the 10th from the Moon.
Vedha row
The Sun and the Moon rows
The Sun: 3 pierced from 9, 6 from 12, 10 from 4, 11 from 5. The Moon: 1 from 5, 3 from 9, 6 from 12, 7 from 2, 10 from 4, 11 from 8. Each planet carries its own table; these four rows (with Saturn's and Jupiter's) cover the transits you check most.
The Sun favorably in the 10th is pierced by a planet in the 4th from the Moon.
Two pairs never pierce each other
Two classical exemptions break the rule. The Sun and Saturn — mythic father and son — never obstruct one another; the Moon and Mercury — mind and intellect, natural allies (n12) — never obstruct one another either. When the planet standing in the vedha house is the transiter's exempt partner, the favorable result stands.
Saturn sitting in the vedha house of a favorable Sun transit does NOT pierce it, and vice versa.
The one idea to keep
Verdict, then vedha, then speak
A gochara result is final only after two steps: call the transit favorable or not by its house from the Moon (n80), then look up its vedha house and check for an occupant — applying the Sun-Saturn and Moon-Mercury exceptions. A planet there pierces a good transit or relieves a bad one; an empty vedha house lets the verdict stand.
Saturn's vedha arrows
Saturn · vedha map
Saturn's three favorable houses from the Moon (3, 6, 11) on the ring, each with an arrow to the house that pierces it: 3 pierced from 12, 6 from 9, 11 from 5. A planet standing at an arrow's tail cancels the favorable result at its head. Mars and the nodes read from this same map.
Jupiter's vedha arrows
Jupiter · vedha map
Jupiter's five favorable houses (2, 5, 7, 9, 11) each pierced from its partner: 2 from 12, 5 from 4, 7 from 3, 9 from 10, 11 from 8. The more favorable houses a benefic has, the more vedha points there are to clear before the fortune is real.
Lab
The lab runs the whole two-step for you: it calls the transit favorable or not, then checks the vedha house against the chart's own natal occupants and reports whether the result is pierced or flows clean — honoring the two exceptions. Work Arjun's real 2026 Saturn first, then hunt for a chart whose vedha house is empty.
Saturn transiting Cancer sits in the 1st from Priya’s Moon (Cancer) — unfavorable by the base table.
Saturn transits well in the 3rd, 6th, 11th from the Moon. Sade Sati — peak phase (1st from the Moon) — read it calmly, as pressure and maturation, never doom.
○On Arjun's chart, set Saturn transiting Pisces — the 11th from his Taurus Moon, favorable by the base table. Confirm the lab reports it PIERCED, because natal planets sit in his 5th (Saturn's 11th-house vedha point).
Practice
Arjun (Moon in Taurus) has Saturn transiting Pisces — his 11th, favorable by the base table. His natal Jupiter and Ketu sit in his 5th from the Moon. Run the vedha check: what is the net verdict?
Work it out
Saturn's 11th is pierced from which house? Is anyone standing there?
Meera (Moon in Scorpio) has Saturn transiting Capricorn — her 3rd, favorable. Saturn's 3rd is pierced from the 12th. Her 12th from the Moon is empty. Net verdict?
Work it out
Favorable house, then: is the vedha house occupied?
Dev (Moon in Virgo) has Mercury transiting Aries — the 8th from his Moon, a favorable Mercury house. Mercury's 8th is pierced from the 1st, where his natal Moon sits. Is the transit pierced?

Which two planets never pierce each other?
The Sun is transiting favorably in the 11th from someone's Moon. Its vedha house is the 5th, and Saturn happens to be sitting in that 5th. Is the Sun's result pierced?
