The houses the lord owns
A dasha activates the life-areas of the houses its lord rules (module 4). The 10th lord's period pushes career; the 7th lord's brings partnership to the foreground. Two houses for most planets — both accounts come due, good seat and hard seat together.
A period of the 4th-and-9th lord stirs home, mother, fortune, and father at once.
The house the lord occupies
Where the lord physically stands colors how it delivers. A benefic-owning lord sitting in a dusthana routes its gifts through difficulty; a lord in a kendra or trikona delivers with strength and visibility. Occupancy is the room the promise is paid in.
The 11th lord (gains) sitting in the 12th (loss) can give income that drains as fast as it arrives.
The company it keeps
Planets conjunct the dasha lord, and those aspecting it (module 3's drishti), lend their agendas to the period. A malefic-hemmed lord gives its results under pressure; a lord bathed in Jupiter's aspect gives them with grace. Read the neighbours before you read the planet.
A dhana-yoga lord aspected by a debilitated Saturn earns, but late and with friction.
The dispositor and the nakshatra lord
The lord of the sign the dasha planet sits in — its dispositor (n24) — inherits partial charge of the period, and the lord of its nakshatra colors it further. A planet is only as free as its landlord; a strong dispositor funds the promise, a weak one starves it. Nodes deliver almost entirely this way (n26).
A well-placed dispositor can rescue a dasha whose own lord looks middling.
The natural karaka
Last and smallest: the planet's own significations (module 2's karakatwas). Venus periods carry relationship, art, and comfort as a baseline flavour; Jupiter periods carry children, learning, and counsel — but only as the tint over the four structural sources above, never as the whole reading.
A Venus dasha always has a relationship undertone — but its events come from what Venus owns and where it sits.
Worked case
Priya's Mercury years — ages 12.1 to 29.1, all five sources
Owns: the 3rd and 12th — skills, effort, writing; expenses and far places. Occupies: the 3rd, in its own sign Virgo — no landlord to answer to (it disposits itself). Company: conjunct Venus, with Jupiter's aspect arriving from Pisces. Nakshatra: Uttara Phalguni, the Sun's. Karaka: intellect, speech, study. Verdict: seventeen striving, skill-building school-and-training years, coloured sweet by Venus, steadied by Jupiter.
Notice the calendar's fit: ages 12 to 29 ARE the study years. The five sources wrote the syllabus; the wheel set the semester.
Strength and yoga set the amplitude
The five sources say WHAT a period delivers; strength (module 5's checklist) and yogas (module 7) say HOW MUCH. A strong lord in a clean yoga delivers its sources loudly; a weak, broken one delivers the same themes as faint echoes. Content from the sources, volume from the condition.
Two people in a 10th-lord period both face career events — one gets a promotion, one a rumor of one.
The one idea to keep
A dasha pays what its lord manages, not what it is
Gather the five — owns, occupies, joins, disposits, signifies — set the volume with strength and yoga, and you have read the period. Reputation is the tint, never the portfolio. The seat decides here exactly as it did in module 4.
