AskVeda — Privacy Policy

AskVeda is an AI-powered Vedic astrology (Jyotish) app. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and how you can delete it.

Data we collect

• Account information — your email address and display name, provided by Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication.
• Birth details — date, time, and place of birth (including the latitude/longitude of the birth place) for each chart you create. You may also create charts for other people (e.g. family members); you are responsible for having their permission to do so.
• Chat content — the questions you ask and the AI-generated readings you receive, stored so your conversations persist across devices.
• Reports — if you report an AI response, we store the report, your optional comment, and a copy of the reported response.

We do not collect your device's live location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not show ads or sell your data.

How your data is used

• Birth details are used to compute your astrological charts.
• Your questions, chart data, and recent conversation history are sent to our AI provider to generate readings, processed as a service provider to us.
• Safety classifiers may scan messages for crisis content; when triggered, we store only a one-way hash of the message for tuning, never the text.

Where your data lives

Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database and processed on our API servers. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

Retention & deletion

Your data is kept until you delete it. You can:

• Delete individual charts (their chat history is deleted with them) from the app;
• Delete your entire account and all associated data from Profile → Delete Account in the app, or by following the steps at askveda.org/delete-account.

Account deletion removes your account record, charts, birth details, chat history, and reports from our systems, and deletes your Firebase authentication record.

Children

AskVeda is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
