02What Jupiter is
Guru means the one who removes darkness — the teacher. Jupiter signifies wisdom, dharma, children, wealth, teachers themselves, and, in a woman's chart by tradition, the husband. It is the principle of expansion: whatever house it occupies or aspects, it tries to grow.

Jupiter aspects the 5th, 7th, and 9th houses from itself — a wider reach than most grahas. Classical texts treat this drishti as protective: a Jupiter aspect on a troubled house is often the difference between damage and a near miss. Check where Guru's gaze falls before you fear anything else in a chart.

05When Guru is complicated
Two classic complications: debilitation in Capricorn, and Guru-chandala yoga with Rahu. Debilitated Jupiter is wisdom forced to earn its keep through structure — and neecha-bhanga (cancellation) is common, so check before concluding anything. With Rahu, the teacher's judgment can bend toward ambition.
