01What a house is
A kundli has twelve bhavas — houses — each owning one domain of life. The moment you were born, the rising sign (lagna) fixed house 1, and the other eleven followed in order. Signs and planets differ from chart to chart; the houses' meanings never move.
North-Indian layout — house 1 sits in the top diamond and the houses run anticlockwise. Signs rotate chart to chart; the houses stay put.

The pillars of strength — angular houses where planets act at full force. Benefics here steady the entire chart.

The dharma and fortune triangle. Their lords are the chart's best friends — a kendra lord joining a trikona lord makes Raja yoga.

The hard schools — obstacles, transformation, loss. Demanding, not damning: they also graduate doctors, researchers, and renunciants.

05How to judge a house
A house's promise is read three ways at once: the sign placed there, the condition of its lord, and any planets sitting inside it. All three must agree before you predict boldly. One affliction is a caveat, not a verdict.
The 6th, 8th and 12th are not curses. They are the chart's hard schools — and some of its best graduates come from them.
