01Overview
02What Mercury is
Budha is buddhi — the faculty that sorts, names, counts, and negotiates. The Moon is the mind; Mercury is the mind's editor. A strong Budha does not make you loud — it makes you precise.
03The chameleon graha
Mercury takes the nature of the planets that join it: with Jupiter it philosophizes, with Mars it debates, with Saturn it audits. Left alone, it is a natural benefic with no fixed loyalties. This is why two charts with a "strong Mercury" can produce a poet and an accountant.
04Where Mercury shows up
05Combustion — Mercury's real vulnerability
Mercury never strays far from the Sun, so it is combust more often than any other graha — and combustion matters more for Mercury than for most. It tends to internalize expression: the thinking is fast, the delivery hesitates. Check the degrees before you panic — a Mercury within two degrees of the Sun behaves very differently from one eight degrees clear.
