01Overview
02The one house that measures rest
Sukha bhava is the department of settledness — the dwelling, the land under it, vehicles, the schooling nobody chose, the mother, and the plain ability to stop. It is an angle, so it carries structural weight, and it is simultaneously the least visible angle in the wheel. Shukra standing there is the karaka of ease placed in the house whose whole subject is ease.
03Why this pairing behaves differently
04The ascendant that stacks four strengths in one house
Digbala — directional strength — is awarded to each graha in the house that best supports its function, and Shukra's is the fourth, an assignment it shares with the Moon. An Aquarius ascendant puts Taurus on that house, so Venus standing there is in its own sign, in a kendra, at its directional best, and is the chart's yogakaraka, since Aquarius also hands it Libra on the ninth. That is the densest configuration Shukra can hold anywhere in the grid, and it is invisible to anyone reading the house number alone.
05What separates a settled base from a decorated one
| ♀︎Ease that holds | Ease that is arranged | |
|---|---|---|
| The 4th sign | Pisces (exalted), Taurus or Libra (own) | Virgo (debilitated) — a Gemini lagna |
| The 4th lord | Well placed, and not burnt by the Sun | Under pressure, or sent to a dusthana |
| The Moon | Sound — the second witness agrees | Afflicted — the two witnesses part company |
| What Venus owns from your lagna | A kendra and a trikona — yogakaraka | Kendras only — the dosha argument applies |
| The period running | Venus or the 4th lord — the house is live | Neither — the house runs as background |
06How much weight kendradhipati dosha really carries
The rule holds that a natural benefic ruling a kendra loses benefic power precisely by ruling it, and a Cancer ascendant is the textbook case for Venus, which owns its fourth and its eleventh with no trikona attached. One line of practice applies that strictly, so a Cancer lagna can hold a Venus in Libra in the fourth that is in its own sign, in an angle, at its directional best and under the dosha all at once. Another line treats it as a light modifier that ownership, exaltation or any trikona involvement cancels outright, and the two positions hand out opposite advice about identical degrees.
